The Third International Forum on Sustainable Manufacturing, organized by the Institute for Sustainable Manufacturing at the University of Kentucky, will take place on Friday, Aug. 9, at the Hilary J. Boone Center on the UK campus.
The forum will bring together nationally and internationally known experts in sustainable manufacturing from industry, academia and federal agencies to examine advances in sustainable manufacturing at the product, process and systems (including supply-chain) levels.
UK faculty will share cutting-edge research through presentations about their work. The forum will also include a poster showcase of student research as well as on-going, multi-faculty research projects.
"Sustainable development is no longer a choice but a necessity that must be followed at all levels," said Fazleena Badurdeen, forum chair and associate professor in the UK College of Engineering. "Manufacturing being one of the major drivers of development, it is imperative that innovative sustainable manufacturing practices are developed and implemented to ensure economic growth is achieved while ensuring environmental protection and social well-being."
Registration is $125 before July 10, or $145 after. The fee includes attendance to all sessions, coffee breaks, parking and luncheon. A limited number of seats sponsored by the College of Engineering and the Institute for Sustainable Manufacturing will be available to University of Kentucky students, faculty and staff on a first-come, first-served basis.
UK attendees may register online at http://www.ism.uky.edu/ism-forum-uk-registration. External (non-UK) registration is available at https://payments.skipjack.com/FormBuilder/VPOS.aspx.
