Lexington, KY – The Downtown Lexington Corporation, Downtown Development Authority and Lexington Parking Authority want to hear from residents about what they think about a range of topics focused on downtown.
The 49-question survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/downtownlexington takes about 10 minutes to complete and is a follow-up to a phone survey conducted in 2008, according to DLC President Renee Jackson.
“The 2008 survey was done originally as a baseline to get people’s opinions,” Jackson said. “Our hope is that awareness and opinions of downtown now would have grown and become more positive as a result of our (DLC, DDA and the Parking Authority) efforts in the last five-plus years.”
There have already been about 1,600 responses to the survey, but Jackson wants to make sure they hear from as many people around the community as possible on issues from shop variety, restaurant styles and costs for parking, navigation and even as specific as liquor selection at area watering holes.
“All three groups will be using the results differently, but all are to better our downtown environment to encourage development and people to live, work and visit downtown,” said Brandi Berryman, DDA project manager.
As for her organization, “DDA hopes to get an understanding of wants and desires of our community to inform our efforts regarding retail development in downtown,” Berryman said.
Gary Means, executive director of the Lexington Parking Authority, said he his set of questions will help determine how the group looks at more than just parking spaces.
“We used it to look at potential technology improvements, and now we can see that marketing efforts toward parking location and availability are needed as well as marketing the technology and safety enhancements we've made,” he said.
The survey is available until April 8.
