LexArts kicked off its annual fundraising drive Tuesday during a gala event at the Kentucky Theatre.
The organization, Lexington's United Arts Fund and community arts group, is raising money to benefit the city’s arts and cultural institutions.
The 2015 Fund For The Arts event was hosted by Nan Plummer, LexArts’ president, and Mayor Jim Gray was scheduled to speak as honorary chairman of the organization.
The kickoff also included presentations and performances by local artists, including a poetry reading, musical works and ballet.
LexArts provides programs and funding for a variety of arts. It partners with local arts groups and provides funding and support for dozens of projects and initiatives throughout the community.
