Lexington, KY - We'd like to present our second annual Smiley Pete Publishing Give Guide, which highlights five local charities and non-profits, as well as the people whose lives these organizations have touched - be it through receiving their services or being involved with their altruistic endeavors.
Like last year, we asked our readers to help us tell the stories of all the great charitable organizations they've had the pleasure of being a part of here in Lexington - a first person narrative is always much more emotive than any editorial we may be able to produce. Like last year, the submissions came pouring in, and we had the difficult task of picking out the five most moving pieces.
This year's five organizations - The Carnegie Center for Learning & Literacy, the Primate Rescue Center, Step By Step, the Lexington Hearing & Speech Center and the YMCA of Central Kentucky - work with a wide spectrum of people (and animals) in our community, and we couldn't be happier with the mix.
Of course, the intent of this annual feature isn't just to tell these organizations' stories. Within each feature you will find a box detailing some specific items each organization needs for their daily operations, we hope you will seriously consider giving at least one of these organizations some attention before or after the close of the holiday season.
