Lexington, KY - Though from the outside, this south Lexington home wears an almost neocolonial facade, the main level of the interior is flush with French influence - lots of light, huge French doors, a blend of antique and custom furniture and dÈcoratifs, hand-carried back from homeowner Marsha Hurst's European travels. "Everything in this house is designed to feel comfortable, rather than palatial, even though it's a very large house," she explained of the 9,400 sq. ft. home.
With the help of interior designer Barbara Phelps, who recently retired from Richmond's Third Street Gallery, the home has other surprises as well, from the meandering pathways worked into the extensive landscaping throughout the property's 10 acres (the work of French landscaper Marie-Laure Coste Dujols) to the fully finished basement, which includes a home theater and plenty of unexpected Chinese antiques.
