He recently spent the better part of five years traveling and working seasonal jobs in Utah, California, Colorado, and settling for a while in Wyoming. His songwriting is steeped in the traditions of Springsteen and John Prine and he weaves stories that cover a surprisingly wide territory, reflecting his travels and experiences. Burton's simple melodies, warm voice, honest storytelling, and lyrical depth invite you to lean in a little, and really listen.”

From the venue website: “The Whiskey of the Damned is a five piece Celtic influenced rock group put together by Ireland native Eoin McCarthy. Located in Milwaukee WI, The Whiskey of the Damned are a group of talented musicians dedicated to playing high energy, raucous concerts filled with an unmistakable mixture of American and Irish rock. The band is currently recording their 2nd album to be released tentatively this winter and booking a full winter and spring tour. The band has already landed prime spots in festivals such as Milwaukee's Summerfest, Manhattan Illinois Irish fest, and Milwaukee Irish Fest to name a few. Described as a mix of The pogues, Dropkick Murphy's, and Flogging Molly you do not want to miss this act perform live.”

MONDAY, OCTOBER 1
Arrested Development Cosmic Charlie's, 388 Woodland Ave. 10 p.m., 18+, $15/20. The alternative hip hop group celebrates their 20th anniversary and 10th album ("Standing at the Crossroads," released this August). While the line-up has seen some changes since the original formation, founding member Speech is still at the helm.
Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour Presents Della Mae and Pearl and the Beard Kentucky Theatre, 214 E. Main St., 6:30 p.m., $5-10. From the venue website: "Della Mae is five women that are are turning heads, winning hearts, and quickly becoming a household name in acoustic, folk, roots, and bluegrass music. The band is a who's-who of promising young pickers and are all seasoned performers who have won countless contests and shared the stage with the likes of Willie Nelson, Del McCoury, Leon Russell, and Laurie Lewis. With a new album in the works-produced by Bryan Sutton, a 2012 IBMA nomination for Emerging Artist of the Year and their first label release-it's clear that Della Mae is just getting started...Pearl and the Beard is three voices, one cello, one guitar, one glockenspiel, one melodica, several drums, one accordion, ninety-six teeth, and one soul. The band's genre-bending and expectation-defying sound has since burst the trio out of the confines of the New York music scene, allowing them to traipse the United States on a multitude of national tours including opening for Ani DiFranco and Dar Willliams.
