Rabbit Run / Stonewall Woods fall yard sale this month
The Rabbit Run / Stonewall Woods Neighborhood Association will be hosting a fall yard sale beginning at 8 a.m. on Sept. 25. Neighbors and residents are encouraged to clean out their closets and garages and participate. For prospective shoppers, the neighborhood is located east of Harrodsburg Road, near Wellington Way. Southland Jamboree gets extended schedule
Due to rained-out concerts, Southland Jamboree, a free series of Bluegrass concerts held every Tuesday during the summer, will have an extended schedule in September. On Sept. 7 Kati Penn & Newtown will play the final installment of Southland Jamboree this year.
Music is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the series' normal location, the lawn next to Collins Bowling Center on Southland Drive. Attendees are encouraged to bring their musical instruments for an impromptu jam session with other audience members following the concert.

Moon Festival Celebration scheduled for Beaumont amphitheatre
Organizers with the Kentucky Chinese American Association and the University of Kentucky Confucius Institute will be hosting the 2010 Moon Festival Celebration from 4 - 8 p.m., Sept. 18, at the new MoonDance at Midnight Pass amphitheatre in the Beaumont Centre Circle.
Activities include Chinese American dancers, musicians and other performers; displays by community groups and vendors, lantern making activities, Chinese language lessons, moon cake contests and vendors, and much more. For more information, visit www.kycaa.org.
Della Drive home earns Kentucky's first national Green Building Standard Certificate
Remodeler Millard Blakey of WreckCREATIONS has received Kentucky's first National Green Building Standard Certification for the company's Lexington remodeling project at 743 Della Dr.
The home was recognized for improvements in energy efficiency, water usage and indoor air quality.
The home was featured in the Home Builders Association of Lexington's Tour of Remodeled Homes last month.

Tates Creek High School junior selected to attend national youth summit in Washington, D.C
Surya Green, a junior at Tates Creek High School, attended the 8th annual National Council for Community and Education Partnerships youth leadership summit in Washington, D.C. She was one of 30 students selected as first-time participants in the summit, which ran July 17-22.
All the participants were students from schools served by Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP), a federal program designed to increase the number of low-income youth who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. Students were selected for the leadership summit based on their academic achievement, leadership experience, essay and letters of recommendation.
Surya is actively involved in various Tates Creek and community activities including the school's speech team, student council and track team. She volunteered at a local child-care center this summer and plans to continue in the fall.
Learn to cook at Fresh Market
Fresh Market will be hosting the next Lexington Fresh Flavors Cooking Demonstration on Sept. 18. Local Chef Debbie Buckler will lead a free, step-by-step presentation at the Fresh Market Location on 3387 Tates Creek Rd. from 3 -

Marriott opens new hotel just in time for the World Equestrian Games
Hospitality company Marriott International opened a new Residence Inn in Lexington on Aug. 31. The Residence Inn Lexington Keeneland/Airport is located at 3110 Wall St., four miles form the Bluegrass Airport, in the Beaumont Circle near Harrodsburg Road.
The 104-suite hotel is designed for stays of at least five days, with each suite featuring a fully-equipped kitchen and free high-speed Internet. The hotel provides a complimentary hot breakfast each morning, houses an indoor swimming pool, exercise room and meeting space for up to 30 people. Smashburger slated to open second of six Lexington locations this month
The Denver-based, fast-casual burger joint Smashurger is scheduled to open its second Lexington location on Thursday, Sept. 16.
