Paul Laurence Dunbar High School was the overall winner in the district-level Governor's Competition, which concluded Jan. 26. Dunbar is in District 44.
Along with being the overall winner, Dunbar placed first in the Quick Recall contest and second in the Future-problem Solving category.
Tates Creek High School, also in District 44, placed third overall and took first place in the Future-problem Solving category.
A contest consists of five written assessment exams, composition (on-demand writing), future-problem solving and quick recall.
The following Dunbar students placed first in their individual tests: Christian Wright in social studies assessment and arts & humanities assessment, Valerie Sarge in science assessment, and Will Walters in language arts assessment.
Rachel Dixon, from Tates Creek, took first place in the composition category.
This year's high school regional contests are Feb. 12 and 16 and the state finals will be held March 16 through 18.
