The Kentucky High School Athletic Association sanctioned archery earlier this year as a co-ed "sports activity," and local schools fielded teams for local, regional and state competition, though competitors are still coordinated by the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
Earlier in March, 10 schools from Fayette County Public Schools sent teams to the Kentucky NASP Region 9 Archery Tournament in Madison County, and based on the cumulative scores of their top 12 archers, Beaumont Middle School and Lafayette, Dunbar and Tates Creek high schools advanced to the state tournament March 18 – 19 in Louisville, though none of the teams placed in that competition.
