On May 2nd, the mid-week markets open and the operations expand to four days a week. Every Tuesday and Thursday, growers will set up in the Lexington Center parking lot at the corner of South Broadway and Maxwell Street from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Also beginning in May, the Lexington Farmers’ Market at UK will begin on the 22nd and operate every week from on Wednesdays 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 14th. Located near Commonwealth Stadium at the corner of University and Alumni Drives, this additional mid-week market is conveniently located, has ample parking and offers the same fine selection of products found at the weekend markets.
In addition to the weekly market offerings, many special events are planned including cooking demonstrations with local chefs, craft and educational tables for children, and book signings by local authors. Also scheduled this year is the Fourth Annual “Taste of the Farm” dinner, on August 24th, which features a professionally prepared meal using ingredients grown and raised by the members of the Lexington Farmers’ Market.
