Harry Clarke, the 10th District Councilmember, will be holding a meeting for anyone interested in promoting biking in the district. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 13 at Crankworks Bike Shop (429 Southland Dr.)
The overall goal of the meeting, according to Clarke's council office, is to encourage greater interest and participation in cycling for fun, exercise, family activities and as a serious mode of transportation. All citizens are encouraged to stop by to discuss how Lexington can plan for future bike paths and bike lanes, with an emphasis on creating connectivity between existing bike facilities throughout the city.
Lexington has made progress in creating a more bike-friendly city, but more attention is needed to ensure the outlying areas, away from the city's center, are not forgotten. The meeting will also help identify the barriers cyclists face and encourage ways to solve these problems.
