Seven juniors and seniors at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School scored a perfect 36 on the ACT college entrance exam during the 2012-2013 academic year: Ryan Draper, Athena Kern, Jessie Li, John Luan, Ng Nelson, Valerie Sarge and Rebecca Williams.
Connor Langley, of Henry Clay High School, also tallied a perfect ACT score.
The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each is scored on a scale of 1 to 36, and the student’s composite score is the average of the four tests. Nationally, roughly one-tenth of 1 percent of test-takers achieves a composite 36.
Fayette County Public School students take the ACT in March of their junior year; individuals may also take the exam at other times, including the summer months. After each school year or fiscal year ending June 30, the district recognizes those who have recorded a composite 36.
