Actors Guild: seale
Actors Guild of Lexington artistic director Eric Seale has announced the programming for the theatre troupe's upcoming 30th season.
The following performances will all take place at the South Elkhorn Theatre (4383 Old Harrodsburg Rd.).
King Lear
Nov. 7 - 16
By William Shakespeare. Actors Guild begins its 30th season with Shakespeare's classic tragedy of madness. Local favorite Robert Parks Johnson returns to the AGL stage to portray the famous King. Directed by artistic director Eric Seale.
Sealed for Freshness
Jan. 9 - 18, 2014
By Doug Stone. Set in 1968 during the heyday of Tupperware parties. Hostess Bonnie invites a group of neighbors over for a party. The guest list: perky, rich Jean, Jean's cranky and very pregnant sister Sinclair, ditzy-blonde Tracy Ann, and new neighbor Diane, who's made quite a career selling Tupperware, but at the expense of her marriage. The mix of personalities and the number of martinis consumed lead to a great deal of absurd high jinks plus revelations of an equal number of secrets and insecurities.
Other Hands
March 6 - 15
By Laura Wade. In a world of systematic, high-speed technology, some people expect to live life as efficiently as the machines they depend on... and when a machine breaks down, there is usually someone with the skills to fix it. But in an age where things that don't work and can't be mended are thrown away, what do we do with something as human and messy as love?
The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity
May 8 - 15
By Kristoffer Diaz. This production is a serious minded comedy about wrestling, geopolitics, and raisin bread.
In 2010, AGL moved to its current theater in the South Elkhorn Village. Showtimes and ticket information will be available at a later date on the organization's website, www.actors-guild.org.
