On Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 10 a.m., all supporters of the Tates Creek sidewalk project are invited to join Vice Mayor Linda Gorton, Council Member Bill Farmer, Jr., and other Council members, for the opening walk to celebrate the newly completed Tates Creek sidewalks. Participants are invited to meet in the Lansdowne Shopping Centre, near the fire station, for the start of the walk. After a brief walk, the event will conclude back at the shopping center where the Vice Mayor and others will make brief statements and attendees will then be encouraged to shop, eat or otherwise support the Lansdowne merchants.
“This current project began prior to 2008 with neighborhood meetings and I am thrilled to see the plan come to fruition. It enhances connectivity for citizens throughout the neighborhoods and the University of Kentucky areas,” Gorton said. “Our corridors are always better when we make it easy for all modes of transportation, including walking.”
For those who want to show support but cannot come out Saturday morning, Vice Mayor Gorton hopes you will take time this weekend to walk the sidewalks.
