Today is the last day to register for the 2016 Shamrock Shuffle 3K at the $22 price point; registration fees for the 10th annual race will increase tomorrow to $25 through March 11, and will raise to $30 on the day of the race (March 12).
A benefit for Lexington Habitat for Humanity, the annual race kicks off Lexington’s citywide St. Patrick’s Day festivities each year, and is open to walkers, runners and “shufflers.” Strollers are welcome to participate, although organizers ask that they start in the “stroller / walker / shuffler” section toward the back of the start. Participants are also encouraged to dress in Irish and shamrock-themed costumes if they choose, and a contest for the best costume will follow the race at the Finish Line Party under the shelter of the Fifth Third Pavilion.
The course begins near the intersection of Vine and Upper Streets, and follows a flat course out Vine Street to Midland Avenue, continuing back downtown via Main Street and finishing at the intersection of Main and Upper.Click here for a map of the course.
Registration fees will go toward Lexington Habitat for Humanity, which has helped more than 400 hardworking local families purchase safe and affordable homes since 1986. Race day registration takes place 6:30-7:30 a.m. in the mall area of the Lexington Center.
