Lexington, KY - First the stadium got a new moniker, now the clubroom behind homeplate at the homefield for the Lexington Legends is sporting a new name just in time for the Legends' opening day.
The Kentucky Ale Taproom is part of a 10-year partnership between the Legends and the maker of Kentucky Ale, Ky Ale Light and Ky Bourbon Barrel Ale, the Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company's parent Alltech.
Formerly the Maker's Mark Club, the Kentucky Ale Taproom is open for up to 150 season ticket holders and special pass recipients for gathering around the panoramic windows before and during games at the newly coined Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
The Legends announced the new partnership with Kentucky Ale during their media day as well as announcing their 2011 roster.
The single-A Houston Astros affiliate is beginning their 11th season of play at the North Broadway stadium Thursday. The team announced late last year its partnership with restauranteur Thomas and King had ended bringing an end to the name of Applebee's Park, the stadium's name since its first game in April of 2001.
The Kentucky Ale Taproom will be open on Thursday as the Legends take on the Charleston RiverDogs in the first of a four game series. First pitch is at 7:05. The Legends will play at home through Thursday the 14th before embarking on a nine game road trip, bringing them back to the friendly confines of Whitaker Bank Ballpark for a nine game home-stand on Monday, April 25.
The Kentucky Ale Taproom is also available for private gatherings and business meetings and special events throughout the year.
