Natural gas is the nation's fastest-growing energy, accounting for more than 90 percent of new electricity capacity built in the last five years. It is an essential raw material for many common products, such as paints, fertilizer, plastics, antifreeze, dyes, photographic film, medicines, and explosives and is used in the production of steel, glass, paper, clothing, brick and electricity.
