Lexington, Ky. - Heading in to its final day, the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale was still producing six-figure sales.
Five Gold Rings, a 6-year-old mare by Touch Gold who is in foal to Indygo Shiner, brought top bid of $105,000 during Wednesday's session. Bluewater Sales, as agent for Southern Equine Stables, purchased Five Gold Rings, a half-sister to Illinois Derby winner Yarrow Brae. She was consigned by Lane's End, agent.
Prices have dipped in the waning days of the Keeneland sale. Keeneland sold 233 horses Wednesday for gross receipts of $2,122,800, down 14.6 percent over last year when 251 horses brought $2,487,200. Average price dipped 8.05 percent to $9,111 compared to $9,909 in 2010. The median price of $4,500 marked a 25 percent decrease over last year's $6,000.
With one day remaining in the sale, a total of 2,397 horses have been sold for $207,707,400, an increase of 43.9 percent from last year's $144,303,000. Average price of $86,653 was up 45.6 percent from $59,506 in 2010. The median of $25,000 rose 13.6 percent from last year's $22,000.
