Lexington, KY - The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is urging anyone who has yet to get a flu shot to do so as part of National Influenza Vaccination Week (Dec. 4-10). The health department offers flu shots at the Public Health Clinic North, 805A Newtown Circle. No appointment is necessary. Flu shots cost $25, and Medicaid, Medicare B, cash, checks, credit cards and some insurances are accepted.
The Public Health Clinic North is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday; and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday.
The seasonal flu shot, which also provides protection against H1N1, is recommended to all people ages 6 months and older.
"A flu shot remains the best way to protect yourself from getting the flu," said Lois Davis, the health department's public health nursing manager. "It also helps you keep from spreading the flu to your friends, family and co-workers, so with plenty of the vaccine available, now is a great time to come get a shot."
The health department has given about 4,500 flu shots already this season.
