LEXINGTON, KY - Kentucky's largest chain of liquor stores is going Canadian. Liquor Barn has agreed to acquisition by a subsidiary of Liquor Stores Income Fund of Edmonton, Alberta.
The sale involves eight stores in Lexington and Louisville. Six operate under the name Liquor Barn and two operate as Shopper's Village Liquors.
The Liquor Barn chain, established with a single store in 1967 by Irving Rosenstein, employs some 300. Rosenstein's son, Robert, has been CEO since 1986.
The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and due diligence. Closing is anticipated prior to December.
