Lexington, KY - Should the U.S. Postal Service move mail-processing operations from Lexington to Louisville and/or Knoxville?
If you have an opinion on the matter, mark Nov. 28 on your calendar. That's when the Postal Service will hold a public meeting to get feedback on its proposal to make the move that could save more than $9 million. The closure of the Nandino Boulevard facility would eliminate 184 jobs.
The post office has a package of cost-cutting measures under consideration with mail volume in steep decline.
The public comment session is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. at Fayette County Public Schools' Central Office, 701 East Main St.
If you are unable to attend, you can mail your thoughts to Manager of Consumer and Industry Contact, Kentuckiana District, P.O. Box 31631, Louisville, Ky. 40231-9631.
The deadline for mailed comment is Dec. 13.
