Lexington KY - Both the State Department of Parks and the Office of Adventure Tourism have rolled out new websites to act as clearing houses for those looking to kick back in relax around Kentucky - or to savor an adrenalin rush.
Providing info on lodging, camping, restaurants, wildlife sightseeing, golfing, as well as accommodating online reservations for state parks and offering a comprehensive list of boating outfitters and ATV operators, the sites aim to make planning a Kentucky vacation easier for those inside and out of the commonwealth.
"These sites are great ways to learn about what our Kentucky State Parks and adventure destinations have to offer to travelers," Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Marcheta Sparrow said in a release. "The new designs provide more information, photographs and details to help them decide what their next adventure will be in Kentucky."
The state parks site now includes 360-degree views of rooms and meeting areas at state parks, an improved calendar of events, interactive maps, golf tips and a topical listing of activities based on individual interests.
The adventure tourism site has added an expanded listing of places where people can experience their favorite outdoor activities. The site includes over 12,000 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, road cycling, horseback riding and ATV use, according to the release.
The sites, www.parks.ky.gov and www.getoutky.com were designed by Arkansas-based web development firm Aristotle. Many of Aristotle's clients are Arkansas-centric, but it does branch across state-lines in the area of tourism sites, its portfolio including projects for the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the Albuquerque CVB, Downtown Nashville Convention Collection, the Greenville CVB, Atlantic City, the West Hollywood CVB. The firm also has designed sites for the Biltmore, O'Charley's and Sears.
