Lexington, KY - It's a time of reinvention for many who have been displaced from their jobs and careers. Others are interested in expanding their horizons and finding new paths in life. The dynamics took us to UK's Gatton College of Business and Economics, where Harvie Wilkinson is director of MBA programs. In a conversation with Business Lexington's Tom Martin, he discussed "Project Connect," a program that provides real work experience as students pursue a master's degree in business admin-istration, and an evening class program for people with day jobs looking to boost business skills and enhance their resumes.
TM (Tom Martin): Project Connect - let's look first at its history.
HW: (Harvie Wilkinson):
Project Connect was created when Gatton restructured the full-time MBA program about seven years ago. A large percentage of our full-time students come straight out of undergraduate school. Because of that, they don't have a lot of real-world experience. Project Connect gives those students that experience.
