October 1 - Lexington Area Music Alliance's LAMA Fest
LAMA Fest begins a series of all-day musician workshops and live performances designed to inform and showcase Lexington's local music community.
Organized by the Lexington Area Music Alliance (LAMA), the day begins with LexJam, the popular open jam session, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Next is a series of workshops especially useful to amateur and experienced musicians from garage band to seasoned pro.
Sessions begin at 1:30 p.m. and include:
-The Band as a Small Business
-Hook, Line & Singer: A Songwriter's Primer
-Lawyers, Bands & Money: The Law & The Musician
-Band Psych 101 (Group dynamics)
-A Conversation with Venue Owners
-Band Aid: Marketing your Band
Finally, Band-O-Rama presents a unique live showcase of wide-ranging local musical talent, with each group playing a short set. Scheduled performers will include:
-7 p.m. -- Sydney Cubit
-7:45 p.m. -- LexJam Allstars
-8:30 p.m. -- Patrick McNeese
-9:15 p.m. -- Mojo Tones
-10:15 p.m. The City
-11:15 p.m. -- Lipstick Pistol
-12:15 a.m. Rated X

October 4 - The Central Kentucky Inventors Council's InventorConference 2011
The Central Kentucky Inventors Council's seventh annual conference brings together inventors, companies that assist them, and the public to showcase new products and services.
This year's event continues to offer free exhibit space for burgeoning inventors and is also free to the public.
The keynote speaker is product spokeswoman Forbes Riley, who is known for promoting the Jack LaLanne Juicer, Spin Gym and countless other items. She says she's done 111 infomercials and sold more than $2 billion of products on television.

October 6 - Lexington Forum with UK President Dr. Eli Capilouto
If you want to find out what's going on in Lexington, the monthly Lexington Forum breakfast is the place to be. Join the Lexington Forum for breakfast at Keeneland on Thursday, Oct. 6 and hear from UK's new president, Dr. Eli Capilouto. Dr. Capilouto began his presidency on July 1.
In his inaugural "State of the University" address, Dr. Capilouto outlined his priorities as he settles into his new role, emphasizing a need to make significant improvements in the infrastructure of the UK campus.
"I say we have the best faculty you can find anywhere. We've got 21st century learning going on, but we're in 19th century facilities. So that's on the top of my priority list," he said.

October 8 - Kentucky Proud Incredible Food Show
A menu of tasty new ingredients has been added to the Kentucky Proud Incredible Food Show October 8, 2011, according to Lexington Center Event Manager, Theresa Lloyd.

Culinary seminars, cooking presentations and cook book author signings have been added to the programming and can be viewed on the show web site at http://incrediblefoodshow.com/

The Incredible Food Show will also feature two live cooking presentations by Michael and Bryan Voltaggio, winner and runner-up of bravo TVs Emmy Award winning show . They will appear in Rupp Arena at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8.

"The day kicks off with a full Kentucky Proud breakfast for the first 300 paid entries," Lloyd said. "The breakfast will be prepared by Sullivan University and the ingredients provided by numerous Kentucky Proud members that offer fresh, local grown food available to us every day." 
In addition, cooking demonstrations and culinary seminars by regional and local chefs will be presented on the hour by Sullivan University's culinary school. will take to the Sullivan Stage for a live taping of an upcoming episode featuring Chef Jeremy Ashby of Azure Restaurant and Chef John Foster of Sullivan University.

October 21st - TEDxLex at the Kentucky Theatre
An event designed to bring leading technologists, innovators and musicians together to share their vision of creativity and ideology, TEDxLex is a local spinoff of the popular TED series. This event provides a platform for local creative minds to learn from these extraordinary speakers, and spread their ideas on how new media and technology are shaping the future of Lexington as well as the world.
In its second year,l TEDxLex event will operate with the theme of Playful Innovation, the discovery that not all ideas have to change the world but they can be fun, creative and challenging to just those around us. The opportunity to innovate exists in every aspect of our life large and small; it is up to us to seize the moment to make a difference in ourselves and the ones that are willing to learn.
The event will begin Friday, October 21, 2011 and run from 8a-3:30p at the Kentucky Theatre. There will be 12-14 live speakers, recorded TED Talks, and a number of networking sessions both during and after the event including opening and closing receptions.
