Lexington, Ky. -- Already the presenting sponsor of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, Alltech has boosted its commitment by $1 million to make Alltech product Kentucky Ale the Games' official beer.
The World Equestrian Games "(is) about seeing Kentucky, it's about experiencing Kentucky and now it is about tasting Kentucky, and that's what our beer is all about," said Alltech founder and president Dr. Pearse Lyons.
Kentucky Ale, Kentucky Light and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale --all produced by Alltech's Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company-- are Lexington's only locally-brewed beers. With the official sponsorship designation Lyons said he hopes to take the Kentucky Ale products far beyond the boarders of the commonwealth.
"We want this beer to be both national and we want this beer to be international," he said.
In order to accommodate the anticipated growth in sales of Kentucky Ale, Lyons said he will soon announce a "major expansion" of their brewery and distillery on the Westside of the Lexington's downtown.
Kentucky Ale joins its parent Alltech, Rolex, John Deere, Ariat International, Inc and Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital as official sponsors for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games which runs from Sept. 25 through October 10 2010 at the Kentucky Horse Park.
