Lexington, KY - A leader in Kentucky’s workers’ compensation insurance industry has announced plans to retire. Roger Fries said he will bring to a close 17 years as President and CEO of Kentucky Employers Mutual Insurance (KEMI).
In a statement, Freis said he will retire in 2013. “Leading KEMI has been a great honor for me,” stated Fries. “It is exciting to think about what
the employees in this organization have accomplished since KEMI opened in 1995 and while I look forward to spending more time with my wife, children, and grandchildren in retirement, I will remain KEMI’s biggest fan.”
Fries joined KEMI following several years in executive level management at the Accident Fund of Michigan and has served as KEMI’s only President and CEO. He is credited with successfully establishing KEMI as Kentucky’s workers’ compensation insurance carrier of choice and is known for developing standards in innovation and service delivery that have made KEMI a reputable, nationally-recognized insurance company.
Fries’ contributions to the insurance industry include multiple terms on the board for the Workers’ Compensation Research Institute as well as service on committees for the American Insurance Association; Property Casualty Insurers Association of America; Standard and Poor’s Insurers Advisory Council; International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions; Michigan State University Workers’ Compensation Center; and the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds.
During his tenure at KEMI, Fries has served on boards for Commerce Lexington, Junior Achievement, Central Kentucky Heart Association, Lexington Philharmonic, and has been actively involved in several other local and state-wide organizations.
The KEMI Board of Directors will begin recruiting for the President and CEO position in the fall of 2012.
