Lexington, KY - The Lexington's Farmers' Market is introducing a new plan for its winter market.
The farmer’s market will remain setup at the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion in Cheapside Park rather than being moved indoors as it has been for a dozen years. The winter market hours will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., through the end of March. The market will return to its usual configuration on April 5, the traditional opening weekend of the growing season.
Since 2001 the farmer’s market had relocated to Victorian Square during winter months from the streets of downtown. Despite the relocation of other Victorian Square tenants in the past year since the facility came under new management, Jeff Dabbelt, the farmer’s market executive director, said the move was the decision of the market’s board.
“I spoke directly with Woodford Webb and the property managers of Victorian Square and we continue to be welcome in that space, but my board of directors has chosen this move to literally enhance our visibility and increase overall awareness about the market and the products offered,” Dabbelt wrote in an email.
The market has been a co-op by its members since being established in 1975.
