Lexington, KY - The Kentucky Community College and Technical System (KCTCS) has named Larry Ferguson as vice chancellor for economic development and workforce solutions.
Ferguson, who currently serves as the dean of resource development and external affairs at Ashland Community and Technical College, has more than two decades of workforce training experience in higher education and the private sector. His efforts in workforce development have spanned multiple industries, including manufacturing, financial services, information technology and health care.
“I am elated to get the opportunity to work with each of the KCTCS colleges and our close partners at the Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet, the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet and the Governor’s office,” Ferguson said in a media release announcing his new appointment. “Together we can work synergistically toward our mutual goal of enhancing the workforce and economic development of the commonwealth.”
Ferguson will begin his new position with KCTCS on April 16. As vice chancellor, he will be the college system’s primary point of contact for global, national and regional companies looking for workforce training services in Kentucky. He will also support and collaborate with workforce solutions leaders and presidents at the 16 KCTCS colleges.
Ferguson earned his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and his master’s degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University. He also earned a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Trident University. He currently serves on the executive board for the Northeast Kentucky United Way and the TENCO Workforce Investment Board.
