Lexington architecture firm Pohl Rosa Pohl is a finalist in a worldwide design competition for its work on the new Helix Garage facade on Main Street.
The Architizer A+Awards honor architecture and design in a variety of categories.
The Helix Garage will compete against parking structures built in places from Boston and Detroit to Slovenia.
Pohl Rosa Pohl’s design reinvigorated the downtown Lexington structure, which was originally built in 1966. The Lexington Parking Authority commissioned the work, which also involved major structural changes. The facade itself employs perforated sheets of stainless steel and colorful LED lighting.
A jury of architects, designers, developers and others will judge the entries. A popular vote category is also being tallied through April 3 at http://awards.architizer.com/public/voting/?cid=41. Winners will be announced April 14.
