Woodford Forward, an development advocacy group that promotes urban redevelopment and agricultural farmland use, is partnering with Lexington-based Bullhorn Creative for the second in a series of panel discussions.
The program, “Physical Education Part II -- A Discussion on Urban Development in the Bluegrass,” will be held Sept. 30 in downtown Versailles and will cover issues including place-making designs and downtown revitalization.
“Revitalizing our urban cores in Versailles and Midway is the key to making Woodford County a vibrant destination for young professionals, families, retirees and entrepreneurs to live, work and locate businesses here,” Woodford Forward CEO Billy F. Van Pelt II said in a statement. “This will be a primary focus of our organization during the next year.”
Attendees will get the chance to hear experts talk about a variety of development issues, including success stories from other communities and emerging research.
Among the panelists slated to appear are Kyle Fanninfrom Spark Versailles; Stan Harvey, director of the Urban Design & Planning practice at Lexington’s Lord, Aeck & Sargent; Louis Johnson from Gresham, Smith and Partners in Louisville; Andy Knight, designer at Lexington’s MKSK; Holly Wiedemann, founding principal and president of AU Associates; and Richard Young from the North Limestone Community Development Corp.
The event will kick off Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at Safe Harbor Academy, 134 Macey Ave., Versailles. The public is welcome, and more information can be found at www.woodfordforward.org.
