The Blue Grass Community Foundation has been awarded a grant of $675,000 by the Kresge Foundation to help foster collaborations among groups and individuals working to revitalize Lexington’s north and east sides.
The money, which will be spread out over three years, will support efforts to help bring together community activists and groups based in the city’s East End and Northside neighborhoods through arts programming and food access, among other initiatives.
“Both of these communities, though underserved and under-resourced, have a rich history and culture, and many committed long-time neighbors and supporters,” Lisa Adkins, president and CEO of the Blue Grass Community foundation, said in a statement.
Among the groups that will benefit from the grants is the North Limestone Community Development Corporation.
“The Community Foundation has been one of the chief strategic parners for the CDC throughout the past two years,” NoLi CDC Executive Director Richard Young said in a statement. “Support from the Kresge Foundation will allow this partnership to continue to flourish and will ensure that equity is front and center as our work progresses.”
Kresge is multibillion-dollar private foundation based in Troy, Michigan, that promotes vibrant and healthy communities through grants and investments.
