Yamaguchi’s Sake and Tapas, which billed itself as Lexington’s first and only Japanese sake bar specializing in tapas-style Japanese delicacies, will be closing its doors at the end of November.
“Our lease is up and we have decided to close at the end of November. ... It was extremely difficult for us to make a decision; however, we have decided to go home,” the owners, Hidenori Yamaguchi and his wife, Shima, announced on Yamaguchi’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
The Yamaguchis are originally from Japan.
Located on Codell Drive, Yamaguchi's opened in 2009 as a small dining establishment for patrons looking to enjoy a variety of sake and wines accompanied by small-meal Japanese specialties, served in a cozy and intimate atmosphere.
The owners have also announced new hours for the dining establishment’s final weeks. Through the end of the month, Yamaguchi’s will be open Thursdays through Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sundays for its Chef’s Lunch from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
