The unemployment rate in Kentucky fell to 4.3 percent in October, with Fayette County’s falling to 3.1 percent, the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training reported.
The agency, part of the state Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, said unemployment rates declined in 109 counties year over year, while remaining steady in four counties and rising in seven.
Fayette’s rate was bested only by Woodford County, which posted the state’s lowest unemployment rate of 2.8 percent for October. Nearby Scott County also was among the brighter spots, posting a 3.2 percent unemployment rate for October.
Not all the news was good, however, with several eastern counties lodging unemployment rates above 8 percent. Magoffin County posted the state's highest rate, at 11.3 percent.
