Oak Springs Grill, a new restaurant concept from the parent company of Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, opened this week in the former Abuelo’s location at Fayette Mall.
Food Concepts International shuttered Abuelo’s in February to start renovations to transform the location into its new concept, which is being launched by the company in conjunction with Metis Global Holding.
“The addition of Oak Springs Grill brings a new dining concept that will feature décor, unique artisan facts and authentic wood bourbon barrel ends representative of the flair and individuality of Kentucky.” said Sarah Enlow, marketing director of Fayette Mall, in a release announcing the restaurant’s launch.
Oak Springs Grill’s menu features a broad selection of comfort food, including ribs, steaks, hamburgers, sandwiches and salads, with grilled items cooked over an open-flame, oak-fired grill. The restaurant will also feature a wide selection of bourbons, wines and cocktails.
“At Oak Springs Grill, our goal is to offer our guests an opportunity to experience the unique and soothing flavors of Kentucky in a beautiful setting with superior service – all at a great value,” said Oak Springs Grill general manager Jeff Scouler. “We’ve added an innovative touch to comfort food, with a few special touches and flavors added in.”
The restaurant’s hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
In addition to Oak Springs Grill, another restaurant, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, is currently under construction on a lot adjacent to the mall at on the corner of Nicholasville and Reynolds Roads. Construction on BJ’s is projected to be completed this summer.
