Portofino has earned a fine reputation in service, food quality and price. Though I realize their two private dining rooms are perfect for business lunches, it is my impression that they may be underutilized. Portofino's noon parking is limited; however, the Chase Bank or National City Bank parking structures can fill that need. But whether parking is at issue for you or not, Portofino merits a second look.
The restaurant offers two lunch packages. The least expensive is $11 plus tax and gratuity with a list of seven choices, from which you can choose three to offer your group. Among those choices, the three that stand out in my estimation are the Caesar salad with chicken or salmon; the lasagna with marinara or meat sauce and salad; and the chicken salad sandwich with fries. A non-alcoholic beverage is included.
The second package is priced at $16 plus tax and gratuity with five choices, of which you can choose from three. Among the three choices, I recommend the Italian hot brown with turkey, prosciutto, tomatoes, toasted ciabatta and a Mornay sauce. The other two I would select are the goat cheese and apple salad and the Atlantic salmon and salad. Again, this includes a non-alcoholic beverage.
These meal packages represent very attractive pricing for the business luncheon budgets, and the two private dining rooms offer contrasting settings to accommodate the group. The Wine Room, located on the lower level, can seat up to 28 guests for lunch or dinner. It is perfect for the small business gathering. On the other hand, the Party Room can accommodate up to 120 for a sit-down meal. Portofino offers dinner packages beginning at $36 as well.
As I mentioned previously, and it bears repeating, I have found the consistency of service and food quality to be among the best in Lexington, especially for the price. Keep Portofino in mind when you are considering a business luncheon or dinner destination.
