Thursday night kicked off the Lexington Fashion Collaborative's fourth annual Future of Fashion, a fundraiser for the the non-profit that has been extended into a three-day affair this year.
The event will continue tonight and Saturday at the Downtown Arts Center, with runway shows featuring some fashions from local boutiques, but primarily the work of more than a dozen local designers. Saturday's show will include two children designers, Maggie Gossage, 10, and Claire Williams, 12. Additional designers featured over the weekend include "America's Next Top Model" contender Laura Kirkpatrick, who is marketing a t-shirt line called Grumbage, Lexington Fashion Collaborative founders Sarah Jane Estes and Soreyda Begley, Maui Crane, Ana Crane Simpson, Laverne Zabielski and many others. Consisting of local fashion, jewelry and accessory designers, models, photographers and hair and make-up artists, the Lexington Fashion Collaborative aims to support and grow the creative community in Lexington that is centered on fashion. A 501c3, the group also accepts community memberships and is raising money to establish a permanent home for the group.
The event starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23. The Downtown Arts Center is located at 141 Main St., and tickets can be purchased in advance at www.lexarts.tix.com or by calling the box office at (859) 225-0370.
