trick or treat
Parents will have one more day to work on their children's Halloween costumes, and teachers will not have to handle sugar-crazed children tomorrow morning.
City officials have postponed trick-or-treating in Lexington due to the probability of inclement weather this evening, Oct. 31. Lexington trick-or-treating will now be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Nov. 1.
Yesterday the mayor's office said that they were sticking with their plans to keep Halloween evening, but changed the date early this morning.
"We all enjoy the Halloween tradition and hate changing it, but the latest forecast has gotten worse with heavy rain and 40-50 mile per hour wind gusts, and that's just too risky for our kids' safety," Mayor Jim Grey said in a release. "So we are adjusting Lexington's outdoor trick or treat to Friday night at 6 - 8 p.m. The good news is, and this is important, for families who can't change their plans, there are several opportunities for indoor trick-or-treating tonight (Oct. 31)."
Indoor Halloween trick or treat are planned for this evening at Fayette Mall (6 - 8 p.m.) and the Lyric Theater (6 - 8 p.m.).
