Not even halfway through the campaign’s run, the GoodGiving Guide Challenge has netted 75 percent of its $1 million goal.
As of Nov. 27, the initiative has raised a total of $756,033 - a combination of $608,533 coming from 2,842 donors and $147,500 from challenge prizes. Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence had raised the most money thus far, with $40,091; Gods Pantry Food Bank, Inc. is the organization with the most individual donations, with 196 gifts.
The third annual GoodGiving Guide is an online charitable campaign offered in partnership between Smiley Pete Publishing and Blue Grass Community Foundation on behalf of 108 area nonprofits. The project runs through 11:59 p.m. Dec. 31.
Along with being able to make donations online, via www.goodgivingguide.net, people can also contribute to the campaign by shopping at various local businesses on certain days. In the coming days, there are a number of opportunities to make your purchasing power help the GoodGiving Guide Challenge:
On Dec. 4, all Lexington locations of Raising Cane’s will donate 25 percent of sales all day long.
From Dec. 6 - 8, the shops in Woodland Triangle (located between E. Maxwell Street, High Street, Kentucky Avenue and Woodland Avenue) will be hosting a “Shop Local Give Local: GoodGiving Guide Challenge Open House” where each individual business will be encouraging customers to donate to the pool in unique ways (for example, Lucia’s World Friendly Boutique will be raffling off a gift basket of goodies with a retail value of $200, all of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the campaign).
