Now in its 19th year, the Ashland Lawn Party will take place on the grounds of the Henry Clay Estate on Saturday, June 27. Proceeds from the event – the largest fundraising event of the year for Ashland – go toward the maintenance and preservation of the house and grounds.
“Most people aren’t aware that Ashland receives no state or federal funding. We must rely heavily on monies raised at the Lawn Party and other special events throughout the year to preserve this important, historical landmark right here in our own backyard,” said Jim Clark, executive director of Ashland.
Billed as the ‘summer’s best party’, the evening begins with cocktails, a silent auction and live entertainment at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner catered by Dupree Catering and a live auction beginning at 7 p.m. This year’s honorary chairs for the event are Judy and Buddy Cowgill.
Some of the live auction items include an original oil painting of Ashland by local artist Mary Wathen; a Spanish silver coin from the shipwreck of the Atocha; a week’s stay at a luxury 5-bedroom home in Kiawah Island, S.C.; a bronze sculpture of Secretariat donated by Kentucky artist Steve Johnson; and dinner for 12 in the Ashland Garden with music by the Lexington Philharmonic. In addition, the Henry Clay Estate will also be open for tours before dinner and wine will be served in the garden. For more information or tickets, please visit: henryclay.org
