The Macho Nacho, the Tex-Mex dining spot in Chevy Chase that opened in December on the city’s rising Euclid Avenue corridor, has shut its doors, owner Aaron Rothke confirmed Monday.
“The Macho Nacho is now closed,” Rothke told Business Lexington.
Rothke, a University of Kentucky graduate and first-time restaurateur, thanked a variety of people, including patrons and staff, and listed a variety of reasons for the closing.
“We went well over budget in opening, were low on working capital, our payroll and food cost were too high, while having great people our food consistency and service suffered at times, and poor reviews started to reduce sales,” Rothke said. “All of these problems fall under me as owner, I Aaron Rothke take full responsibility for our shortcomings as a restaurant.”
The Macho Nacho opened in December with ambitions to raise the bar on Tex-Mex options as well as delivery.
