The Antonio Franklin Jr. VIP Program Peace Walk returns for its 12th year on Saturday, April 25th. This event, which takes place annually in April, has become a valuable community event that brings Lexingtonians together in the cause to end gun violence. The resource fair will begin at 2 PM and the Peace Walk program to follow at 2:30 PM.
The Peace Walk began in April 2014 when Anita Rowe Franklin brought community leaders together in Duncan Park, where her son Antonio Franklin Jr. lost his life from others engaged in gunfire. Originally led by Anita, the event grew to include a resource fair with partner organizations and community and faith leaders. Children’s and family friendly activities will be available. The Peace Walk is a one-mile community walk through the East End, followed by refreshments and fellowship in the park.
