Two of Lexington’s most dynamic theatre organizations, Bluegrass Opera and Balagula Theatre, are joining forces to mount a newly revised script of Alfred Uhry’s Lovemusik. Featuring Kurt Weill’s original music (“Speak Low”, “September Song”, and “Surabaya Johnny”, amongst many other songs), Lovemusik tells the unusual love story of brilliant composer Weill and his wild muse, actress Lotte Lenya, during the 1930s and 40s as they flee Nazi Germany and establish themselves as giants of the American stage.
