Gatton Park on the Town Branch will be open park-wide July 4 for a relaxed, family-friendly Independence Day celebration centered on a classic cookout and park experience.
Guests are invited to enjoy the park at their own pace throughout the day and into the evening with classic cookout offerings including burgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes, ice cream, lemonade, beer and cocktails. Food and beverage will include:
· Boxcar Cafe (11 a.m.–10 p.m.)
· Sav's Ice Cream (11 a.m.–10 p.m.)
· Life’s Lemons (5 p.m. –10 p.m.)
· Daughters Southern (5 p.m.–10 p.m.)
· Olmeda’s (5 p.m. –10 p.m.)
All-day activities will include lawn games and family-friendly activities, access to the Adventure Playground and Water Play Area, a DJ and dance party from 2-5 p.m., and plenty of open green space to relax and enjoy the holiday atmosphere.
As evening sets in, enjoy the live music lineup of Einstein’s Hammer from 5-7 p.m. and Vinyl Richie from 7-10 p.m.
To close out the celebration, visitors will have the perfect viewing spot for the City of Lexington's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular, which will be launched from the R.J. Corman rail yard near the intersection of Main Street and Oliver Lewis Way. (Fireworks are prohibited in the park.)
