Mountain Stage: Sarah Jarosz, The Black Lillies, Over the Rhine, Steve Forbert
Local NPR affiliate WUKY (91.3 FM) brings the popular internationally-distributed weekly two-hour live music radio show Mountain Stage to town, with host Larry Groce and special guests Sarah Jarosz, The Black Lillies, Steve Forbert, and Over the Rhine in the SCFA Concert Hall.
SARAH JAROSZ is a 24-year-old, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from just outside Austin, TX. Her latest album, 2013’s Build Me Up From Bones, a follow up to 2011’s Follow Me Down, was recorded during her final year of college at New England Conservatory and released when she was at last able to tour without taking school into consideration. The album quickly garnered two Grammy nominations for Best Folk Album and Best American Roots Song, adding to her earlier nomination for her song “Mansinneedof” from her debut album Song Up In Her Head. Jarosz has also been nominated for Americana Music Association Awards for New/Emerging Artist of the Year (2010), Instrumentalist of the Year (2011), Song of the Year (2012) and Album of the Year (2014).
The Black Lillies are Cruz Contreras, Trisha Gene Brady, Bowman Townsend, Jonathan Keeney, Mike Seal, Sam Quinn. They tip-toe the lines of Americana, Rock, Blues, Soul
and hail from Knoxville, TN.
Over the Rhine is the musical partnership of Cincinnati dwellers Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist.
