Chicago photographer Helen Balfour Morrison traveled to the Bluegrass on several occasions in the 1930s and '40s to photograph residents of Kentucky's “freetowns” – rural communities settled by freedmen in the decades after the Civil War. The photographs will be on display through February; local hip hop artist and activist Devine Carama will speak at the opening reception.
