"The Reigning Belle of the Bluegrass Region"

Chicago actress/playwright Rose Buckner -- a Lexington native --will present a performed reading of her new one-woman show, "The Reigning Belle of the Bluegrass Region," on March 18, 2023 at 2 pm at Lexington Central Library. Reigning Belle tells the true story of a Paris, Ky woman who deified racism and risked death threats to marry a Japanese man in 1903. Chicago Actor and Director Kurt Naebig wrote, "Belle is terrific. It deals with so may issues that are apropos now. I was captivated throughout and moved by the story." Lexington native Dr. Kevin Reid called Belle "...a theatrical featherbed to fall on as people of all ages.....negotiate personal and socially relevant existential challenges."
