Salon: LGBTQ with Jay McCoy and Carter Sickles
Each month, Wild Fig will host a salon pertaining to LGBTQ issues. This first salon is hosted by writers Jay McCoy and Carter Sickels.
Jay McCoy is a Lexington-based poet and visual artist with deep roots in Eastern Kentucky. His first poetry collection, The Occupation, was recently published by Accents Publishing. Currently, he fills his days working as general manager for the Morris Book Shop and a writing instructor. Jay holds degrees from Transylvania University, the University of Akron, and earned his MFA in creative writing from the Bluegrass Writers Studio at Eastern Kentucky University.
Carter Sickels is the author of the novel The Evening Hour (Bloomsbury), a Finalist for the 2013 Oregon Book Award and the Lambda Literary Debut Fiction Award. He is the recipient of the 2013 Lambda Literary Emerging Writer Award, a project grant from Oregon’s RACC, and an NEA Fellowship to the Hambidge Center for the Arts.
