Stories of Kentucky’s Engagement with the World will showcase Kentuckians’ work around the world and the opportunities that exist to positively impact the world overseas and right here at home. Highlights include remarks from Steve Kay, Vice Mayor of Lexington; Debra Alexander, former US diplomat; and Kathleen Montgomery, interim director of the Patterson School.
The event will feature panel discussions including: Stories of the US Government and World Affairs: Diplomacy, War, Development, Trade; Stories of Immigrants and Refugees: The World is Here; and Stories of Non-Governmental Groups: Health, Experience Abroad, Exchange.
Attendees will enjoy a free lunch of international foods from local restaurants. Students from Dunbar High School's Cultural Society will perform Chinese and Indian dances. Then the event will conclude with an opportunity to pack books to be sent from the International Book Project to Peace Corps Volunteers working with libraries overseas.
