The Norwegian-born Nilssen-Love is one of the most acclaimed jazz musicians of our time. He began performing in 1994 with his first band Element and has been active both as a soloist and a collaborator ever since. He made an appearance in Lexington in June as part of the OTS series and we’re excited to bring him back with his cohort Ken Vandermark, an American jazz composer and saxophonist.
Vandermark arrived on the Chicago jazz scene in the 1990s and has since earned himself wide critical praise for his play and his compositions. His unique combination of intricate composition and passionate improvisation blend well with Nilssen-Love’s frenetic improvised drums.
Opening: Louisville’s Sick City Four.
