Enoteca 1
The week of July 11-17, mayhem hits the local dining scene when restaurants across Lexington add a special $5 burger to their menu for the second annual Lexington Burger Week.
36 restaurants will participate this year, each offering a unique burger not normally on their menu for just $5. Due to the buzz and demand surrounding this popular event, Smiley Pete Publishing – the creators of Burger Week and parent company of this magazine - have created seven commandments that we hope will help you navigate the week.
Click here for the full list of participating restaurants and descriptions of their burgers!
1. They will run out. (They will make more tomorrow.)
These restaurants will get demolished. They are going to be hit like never before in their histories. Unless, of course, they participated in Lexington Burger Week 2015. So, if a place runs out toward the end of a shift, take it in stride: go back the next day, earlier, order your burger, and thank them for working their butts off to do this for you. Do not be a jerk to our restaurants.
2. There will be waits.
People have been talking about Lexington Burger Week 2016 since the day after Lexington Burger Week 2015. Don’t be surprised if restaurants have waits. In fact, be surprised if they don’t.
3. You will tip and give thanks.
$5 brings out the cheap in all of us, but really, you’re getting a $10-$15 burger (many restaurants go way overboard with ingredients, trying to outdo each other), so please tip at least 20%. The people who are serving you are working harder during Burger Week than at any other point in the year. A kind word will also be welcome—these people are our friends and neighbors.
4. You really should buy a drink or other food.
While extra purchases are not a requirement, we think it says something good about you if you show a little love to a restaurant going above and beyond to bring you an awesome burger. Pick up some fries and a pint of Blue Stallion beer. You’ll enjoy yourself more. Lexington Burger Week is dine-in only. There will be no $5 carry out orders.
5. Check Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
Restaurants are encouraged to post their waits and remaining burgers for the day. Visit lexingtonburgerweek.com for links to participating restaurants. Remember to tag posts, photos and tweets with #LexBurgerWeek.
6. Social sharing is caring.
Smiley Pete loves burgers so much we’re celebrating with great giveaways! Lexington Burger Week is a social affair so we’ll reward notable #LexBurgerWeek social sharers with restaurant gift cards. Tag us socially for a chance to win!
